Everything is falling into place for Manchester United to officially announce Ruben Amorim as the next manager.
Just like that, Manchester United have a new manager. Supporters were given no time to dwell on the news that Erik ten Hag had been sacked.
The new leadership team at Old Trafford wasted no time finding a replacement for the Dutchman after going all out to hire Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.
The 39-year-old, who had been linked with the Liverpool and Manchester City jobs, verbally agreed to join United just hours after Ten Hag was sacked.
There were a few concerns that Amorim was ‘torn’ about joining mid-season, but Sporting released a statement on Tuesday confirming that United plan to pay his €10million (£8.3million) release clause.

Man United chiefs jet out to finalise Ruben Amorim deal
There is hope among the Manchester United hierarchy that Amorim will be in charge against Chelsea for the Premier League showdown on Sunday afternoon.
Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of Wednesday evening’s Carabao Cup tie against Leicester City, but Amorim should be ready to take the reins shortly after.
Amorim will take charge of one final Sporting match on Tuesday against Nacional in the Taca da Liga.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Three club emissaries from Manchester United have flown to Portugal to close a deal for Amorim immediately after Sporting’s match.
Ruben Amorim to be unveiled imminently
United fans have not had to wait long before being introduced to their new manager, and there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful.
Amorim’s record in Portugal is exceptional with his Sporting side boasting a 100 percent win record this season with nine consecutive league wins with 30 goals scored and only two conceded.
In fact, how Ruben Amorim’s win percentage compares to other United managers shows he is more than equipped to succeed at Old Trafford.
Amorim’s ‘spectacular’ tactics suggest that he will introduce a new 3-4-3 formation and style of play which could suit the first-team squad to a tee.
