Erik ten Hag linked with Premier League move, he could even face Ruben Amorim next month

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim could soon come face-to-face with his predecessor in the Premier League.

This weekend’s 2-2 draw to Nottingham Forest marked exactly one year since the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach.

Omar Berrada pushed to appoint Amorim after United’s hierarchy unanimously agreed that Erik ten Hag should be sacked and replaced.

Ineos have publicly backed Amorim as the right man for the job, despite a rocky first 12 months in charge.

Ten Hag joined Bayer Leverkusen after his sacking at United, but he was also dismissed by the German club after just three competitive games this season.

Erik ten Hag linked with Wolves job

Following a winless start to the season, Vitor Pereira was sacked by Wolves, meaning there is now a vacancy at the bottom end of the Premier League table.

According to The Mirror, former United boss Erik ten Hag is among the candidates for the job, alongside fellow ex-United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer was sacked by Besiktas early this season following defeat to Ineos-owned Swiss club Lausanne.

With both Ten Hag and Solskjaer still currently out of a job, a Premier League job offer could soon land on their table.

Ruben Amorim could face Ten Hag or Solskjaer

Amorim’s full focus will be on climbing the Premier League table with United, who currently enjoy a four-game unbeaten streak.

In early December, United will travel to Molineux to face Wolves, who will likely be under new management by that time.

When Amorim and his side make the trip to Wolves, they could come up against a former manager in either Ten Hag or Solskjaer.

Amorim has faced Ten Hag twice in his career, in the Champions League when his Sporting Lisbon side faced Ajax. Ten Hag won both matches comfortably, so United fans will hope for a different outcome if they meet again in December.
