Edinson Cavani posts Instagram message responding to exit rumours

Edinson Cavani has sent a message to Manchester United supporters in response to exit claims.

The Uruguayan wants supporters to know he is fully committed to the club.

The timing comes after Cavani’s dad was quoted by ESPN claiming he was unhappy in Manchester.

Cavani’s message translates as: “Proud to wear this shirt”, with a picture of the club badge.

Cavani’s message is a clear rebuke to suggestions he could be looking to quit this summer.

His dad’s comments could have been lost in translation, as they were originally given to a South American television show.

Boca Juniors have been credited with interest, but Argentine outlet TyC Sports reported earlier today the chances of Cavani signing for the club were ‘distant’.

Cavani’s wages would be a big problem for Boca, and United still have an option to extend his deal. The report suggested the extension is not far away from being finalised.

Cavani is currently working to get fit for the Europa League game with AC Milan, after missing the Manchester derby at the weekend.

United’s number seven seems to have plenty of fight left in him, and the timing of his comments to shut the rumours down should be appreciated. For now at least, he wants fans to know United have his full attention.
