Who is Dante Plunkett?
Plunkett is an 18-year-old left-back signed by United in 2024 after leaving Aston Villa’s academy.
After making his U18 debut against Sunderland in April 2024, Plunkett was invited to train with United’s first team for the first time in February 2025.
Plunkett is expected to sign his first professional deal with United this summer.
Dante Plunkett’s international call-up
Last month, Plunkett received his first call-up to the Jamaica national team for Unity Cup Final against Nigeria, although he did not feature in the match.
Despite being born in Birmingham, Plunkett has roots in Jamaica.
Plunkett has now been named in Jamaica’s squad for the 2026 CONCACAF U20 Championship, which begins on July 24 to August 9.
It’s an opportunity for Plunkett to gain valuable experience on the international stage, even if it’s at youth level.

Plunkett is a raw left-back who has plenty of time to develop his game before knocking on the first team’s door.
The first team has room for an upcoming left-back because Luke Shaw isn’t getting any younger, but he must also challenge Harry Amass, who looks set for opportunities under Michael Carrick.
That should be enough to encourage Plunkett to work hard over the coming year to make a greater impression at Old Trafford.
