Eagle-eyed Manchester United fans loved every single minute of Alejandro Garnacho’s reaction to Rasmus Hojlund’s winner against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.
Garnacho scooped the Man of the Match award, including the fans’ version as well, after a stunning performance for United in their last home match of 2023.
The 19-year-old United star, who is often deployed as a left winger, started out on the right ahead of Antony against Villa in the Premier League clash on Boxing Day.
Garnacho made a sensational impact out on the right in the second half at Old Trafford after Villa took a 2-0 lead against Erik ten Hag’s men before the break.
The United winger’s brace pulled the Red Devils back into the contest before Hojlund finally managed to end his long-running Premier League goalscoring drought.
Garnacho earned rave reviews from United fans, who claimed the winger’s display out on the right showed shades of Cristiano Ronaldo’s first spell at the club.
Garnacho and Hojlund step up for United
Both Hojlund and Garnacho ensured that Ten Hag’s side could mount a successful comeback against Villa, with the United boss able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Hojlund scored an impressive five times in six Champions League appearances this season, but the United star has struggled in the Premier League this season.
Ahead of the Villa match, the 20-year-old Denmark striker had been unable to find the back of the net for United in 14 Premier League matches.
However, Hojlund was finally able to break his Premier League goalscoring duck and the former Atalanta player paid tribute to Garnacho in his post-match interview.
“If he [Garnacho] plays on the left or the right, he’s an incredible talent,” he said (via The Daily Mirror).
“He’s only 19 and we talk a lot about the games and the connection because we’re both young and we try to connect.
“We hope we have many years to come in front of us.”

Hojlund broke the 2-2 deadlock in the 82nd minute after Bruno Fernandes’ corner had struck John McGinn and the United striker immediately pounced on the chance.
The Denmark international’s first-time strike bounced off the inside of the post and past Emiliano Martinez, with an emphatic Hojlund celebrating in front of United fans.
United posted a clip of Hojlund’s winner on their TikTok page and eagled-eyed fans spotted Garnacho’s wholesome reaction to the strike.
Garnacho immediately dropped to his knees inside the box, lifted his head up to the sky and raised his fingers up as well, with fans loving every moment of it.
