Cristiano Ronaldo has explained he got lost in the moment amid his yellow card against Ireland.
Ronaldo was booked after taking his shirt off following scoring the winning goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
It extended the international record he set minutes earlier, extending his Portugal goal tally to 111 goals.

Speaking to Portuguese newspaper Record, Ronaldo said: “I forgot. It’s the emotion of the game. Maybe the coach will give me a hard time, but it doesn’t matter.
“The important thing was to help the team. I’m sorry, but the emotions speak louder.”
Ronaldo now misses Portugal’s next international game next week against Azerbaijan, and he won’t be needed to play in Saturday’s friendly against Qatar.
His manager was not hard on him, with Fernando Santos admitting a suspension could have happened at any time, via Mais Futebol, commenting that he understood Ronaldo’s ‘very strong emotion’.
Heading to Manchester early?
Portuguese news outlet RTP speculate that Ronaldo could be flying to Manchester as soon as today.
ESPN report he has been released from the squad with his manager’s permission.
Newspaper A Bola report Ronaldo may have to quarantine for five days upon arrival in the UK although this is unconfirmed.
If this is the case, then arriving in Manchester early works out pretty well, as he will be clear to link up with his teammates at Carrington early next week.
United hope to have Ronaldo available to play against Newcastle United on Saturday September 11. His international suspension works out pretty well to ensure that happens.
