Marcus Rashford is set to stay in the Premier League after completing a switch from Manchester United to Aston Villa.
It has been over a month and a half since Marcus Rashford’s bombshell interview where he claimed he was “ready for a new challenge”.
The 27-year-old has not played a single minute of football since that interview dropped with Ruben Amorim criticising Rashford’s workrate in training.
An exit always seemed inevitable but Rashford’s dream move to Barcelona proved extremely difficult due to financial and registration problems.
Rashford has now joined Aston Villa on loan, with a £40m buy option attached to the deal in the summer. Villa have agreed to cover around three-quarters of Marcus Rashford’s £325,000 per week wages.

Marcus Rashford set for Aston Villa medical
Villa are now in pole position to land Rashford with manager Unai Emery a big admirer of the English forward.
United faced Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, and perhaps unsurprisingly, Rashford was left out of the matchday squad.
That is because Rashford underwent his medical at Villa before finalising his loan move on Sunday evening.
Rashford could make his Aston Villa debut as early as Friday, when the Birmingham-based side face Tottenham in the FA Cup – the trophy that Rashford lifted with United last season.
Because Rashford did not feature in United’s win over Arsenal in the FA Cup, he will not be cup-tied.
Is Marcus Rashford eligible to face Manchester United?
Rashford staying in the Premier League means he will be a Villa player for their trip to Old Trafford in the final game of the season.
United face Villa at Old Trafford on May 25th – the final Premier League fixture of the calendar. There could be something up for grabs for either side if they are on the brink of European qualification.
However, Rashford will not be eligible to face his parent club as per Premier League rules.
As reported by 90Min, loan players are not allowed to play against their parent club in the Premier League, but they can compete against them in domestic cup competitions.
Therefore, Rashford will be denied an Old Trafford farewell at the end of the season, but he could face the Red Devils if the two clubs are drawn against each other in the FA Cup.
