Marcus Rashford dreams of Barcelona transfer as Manchester United frustrations grow

The future of Marcus Rashford remains up in the air.

The Manchester United forward is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford after losing his place in Ruben Amorim’s team and revealing last month he is ready for a new challenge.

United chiefs are open to offers for Rashford because he’s no longer considered among Amorim’s plans. It sounds like Ineos will take the manager’s side after watching him freeze the player out of United’s first-team.

Marcus Rashford was dropped from four matchday squads by Amorim before being recalled to the bench when United suffered a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle. The 27-year-old didn’t come off the bench and it remains to be seen whether he’ll play for United’s first-team again.

If Rashford has an objective to get back into the England squad for the World Cup, he needs to get back to performing at a high level on the pitch. He won the last of his 60 caps in a friendly against Brazil in March but was overlooked by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024.

Marcus Rashford dream move revealed

Leaving Old Trafford as a United academy graduate won’t be easy.

Rashford came through the youth ranks and became one of United’s best senior players, scoring a career-best 30 goals across all competitions two seasons ago.

The England international has been unable to replicate that level of goalscoring, scoring just four goals in the Premier League this season.

While Rashford has not completely given up on his time at United, it sounds like both parties believe it would be best for his career to continue elsewhere.

Rashford has turned down two approaches from the Saudi Pro League because he wants to remain in Europe.

According to talkSPORT, Rashford is seeking a move to Spain with Barcelona at the top of his wishlist.

Catalonia may be Rashford’s dream destination, though they have been unable to register new players due to Financial Fair Play regulations. Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been removed from their registered list as a result.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s breakfast show, football correspondent Alex Crook said: “Rashford would want to join Barcelona over any team.

“But they can’t register new players.

“My understanding is that his preferred destination would be Spain and therefore Barcelona, potentially could be one of the clubs that he would be interested in signing for.”

Rashford not meeting required standards

Once upon a time, Rashford was United’s star man but the numbers paint a different picture.

The last time he got on the scoresheet was against Everton at the beginning of December, scoring a brace in United’s 4-0 win at Old Trafford. United have won one game since then – against Manchester City – and Rashford was left out of the squad.
