Manchester United hope for positive news with injuries after the international break. And there are some encouraging developments.

Heading into this weekend’s match between Manchester United and Brentford at the weekend, Erik ten Hag is hoping for some positive injury news.

Manchester United have a growing injury list, with several players not at 100 per cent heading into Saturday’s Premier League game.

There is tentatively good news over one player heading into the weekend.

Mason Mount pushing for comeback

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is pushing for yet another comeback after his latest injury.

Mason Mount suffered a head injury against Tottenham, before it was revealed a second injury had subsequently ruled him out of matches against Porto and Aston Villa.

Now according to The Athletic, Mason Mount is set to return to full training ahead of the Brentford game.

Mason Mount has had an injury-prone spell at Manchester United since joining in 2023 and has struggled for any kind of consistency.

This season Mount has only managed two Premier League starts, with just five in 2022/23.

Mount ‘instrumental’

It is claimed via The Athletic’s report that Erik ten Hag views Mason Mount as ‘instrumental to United’s improved pressing schemes’ in attack.

United have struggled against Thomas Frank’s Brentford in the past – but Mount did manage to score against them from the bench last season.

While there may be a key role earmarked for Mount under Ten Hag, possibly even this weekend, his inability to stay fit has prevented him from really being able to show how valuable he could be.

United invested £55 million in Mount and handed him the number seven shirt, and are yet to see a return.

But now fit again, we hope it can last, and this can be a turning point for the former England international.
