Manchester United have not started the season in good form at all with the pressure beginning to mount on manager Erik ten Hag.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United suffered a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and the Red Devils were also fortunate to draw 3-3 against FC Porto in the UEFA Europa League.
As well as results on the pitch building the pressure on the Dutchman, it now appears that more injury problems are beginning to rear their ugly heads.
United’s injury record in the 2023/24 campaign was atrocious and they will be hoping to avoid a repeat of that during the current season.
Leny Yoro

Since Leny Yoro joined United back in the summer, the French defender has been incredibly unlucky with injuries.
Yoro suffered a metatarsal injury against Arsenal during pre-season and he has not been available since then. However, that injury was suffered two and a half months ago and there will be some hope that the teenager can return sooner rather than later.
- Injury: Metatarsal
- When he is expected to return: November 2024
Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia has been out of action for over a year now but the Dutch left-back made a return to Carrington in August and inching ever closer to a return to Old Trafford.
Malacia joined United during the summer of 2022 but has missed so much football with the injury that he suffered – which little is still known about to this day.
The Dutch left-back’s return would certainly be timely with Luke Shaw also remaining out injured with a problem he has suffered this season.
- Injury: knee problem
- When he is expected to return: November 2024
Luke Shaw

As mentioned, Shaw has been injured throughout the majoirty of the 2024/25 campaign and the English left-back was one of United’s most injured players in 2023/24.
Shaw is currently dealing with a calf problem and this has meant that Diogo Dalot has had to fill in at left-back during his absence.
United are hopeful that Shaw will return after the international break which would be a welcomed boost for the Red Devils.
- Injury: Calf/shin problem
- When he is expected to return: October 2024
Mason Mount

Mason Mount has been incredibly unlucky since his £55 million move to United from Chelsea due to the injury problems he has suffered.
After starting the season well, Mount suffered another injury problem and would miss a couple of weeks of the campaign which led to Christian Eriksen being given a chance in the United first team.
Mount then suffered a head injury against Tottenham and has not been seen since, but it has emerged the Englishman also has another knock that he will have to contend with. He is expected to return sooner rather than later.
- Injury: head
- When he is expected to return: 19th of October vs Brentford
Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans were brilliant for United against Aston Villa in the 0-0 draw at Villa Park but the former Leicester City defender has suffered an injury.
Maguire was seen limping and needed help getting off the pitch at the end of the first half and the United defender confirmed he would be out for a ‘few’ weeks.
The centre-back was replaced by Matthijs de Ligt with Ten Hag unsure on how long he will be missing for.
- Injury: unknown
- When he is expected to return: October-November 2024
Kobbie Mainoo

Kobbie Mainoo’s injury should be of concern. Mainoo was taken off against Tottenham but returned against Aston Villa before being taken off with 85 minutes played.
Mainoo will play no part of England’s Nations League games against Greece and Finland, and interim England manager Lee Carsley has not named a replacement.
If Mainoo has aggravated an injury he suffered against Spurs, this would be of huge concern for the Red Devils.
- Injury: potential hamstring problem
- When he is expected to return: unknown
Alejandro Garnacho

Alejandro Garnacho will not be part of Argentina’s squad for the international break and will instead return to Old Trafford to recover.
Garnacho posted on his Instagram yesterday saying: “I had knee problems in the last two matches, and I won’t be able to be with the national team, but I hope to recover so I can be on the next date [against Paraguay and Peru in November].”
If the Argentine does have a serious problem then this would be on Ten Hag as the United academy graduate would have aggravated an existing problem.
- Injury: knee problem
- When he is set to return: unknown
Noussair Mazraoui

The injury crisis does not stop there with Noussair Mazraoui being replaced at half-time against Villa and Ten Hag confirmed the Moroccan had an injury problem.
Mazraoui has made a brilliant start to life at United but it now appears the former Bayern Munich defender could be out for a while.
Ten Hag did not say how long Mazraoui would be out for but it does appear as if full-back could be out for a few weeks.
- Injury: unknown
- When he is set to return: unknown
