Erik ten Hag will face Brentford for the fifth time as Manchester United manager during Saturday’s Premier League clash.

It seems as though Erik ten Hag has survived being sacked as Manchester United boss after back-to-back draws with Porto and Aston Villa.

The Dutchman will remain under huge pressure to turn things around at Old Trafford after the poor start to the season, starting with the next Premier League match against Brentford.

The Red Devils return to action at Old Trafford on Saturday, 19th October when they are scheduled to face Brentford.

Thomas Frank has been linked to the United job following his success with the Bees, and the London outfit are currently 11th – three places ahead of United in the Premier League table.

Erik ten Hag’s record vs Brentford as Man United boss

All eyes will be on Erik ten Hag this weekend – another poor result against Brentford will refuel the sack rumours.

Ten Hag will be hoping for a quick start, but no one is better at that in the Premier League than Brentford. The Bees made history this season after they became the first team to score in the opening minute in three consecutive Premier League games.

A glance at the Dutchman’s previous four matches against Brentford paints a picture of what to expect from United on Saturday afternoon.

Brentford 1-1 Manchester United (30 March, 2024)

United’s last meeting with Brentford burst into life in injury time.

Both sides completed 90 minutes without breaking the deadlock, but Mason Mount scored in the 96th minute after coming on as a late substitute – it is still his only United goal to date.

It looked as though United’s £55m man secured all three points, but Brentford responded with a 99th-minute equaliser from Kristoffer Ajer.

Manchester United 2-1 Brentford (7 October, 2023)

Brentford’s latest visit to Old Trafford was also full of late drama.

Scott McTominay rescued three points for United with an injury-time brace after coming on as a substitute in the 87th minute.

The Scotsman scored in the 93rd and 97th minute to complete a remarkable comeback.

Manchester United 1-0 Brentford (5 April, 2023)

United were in electric form when the two sides met at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game to give United their 17th win in their last 19 home games.

Brentford 4-0 Manchester United (13 August, 2022)

Ten Hag’s second-ever Premier League game ended in complete disaster.

Brentford raced to a four-goal lead by the 35th minute after United put in an absolutely horrible first-half performance.

Ten Hag swiftly cancelled the squad’s day off after the embarrassing defeat. A repeat performance this weekend would surely spell the end for the Dutchman.
