Manchester United were busy over the summer as Ineos made sweeping changes to the first-team squad.
It was the first summer transfer window since the minority takeover was completed, and Ineos wasted no time making their stamp on the squad.
Five major signings were added to Erik ten Hag’s squad, while Ineos also completed a much-needed clearout of fringe players.
It was generally rated as a successful window for Ineos and United with every problem area addressed with a new arrival.
There was also a clear transfer strategy put in place with Ineos targeting young players who can continue to develop at Old Trafford. Noussair Mazraoui was the oldest signing at 26 years old.
Matthijs de Ligt ranked as worst summer transfer
Heading into the summer, strengthening the defence was a top priority at United and Ineos quickly addressed that weakness with a £52m deal for Real Madrid target Leny Yoro and a £50m double deal for Matthijs de Ligt and Mazraoui.
However, the excitement from the summer transfer window has quickly died down after a terrible start to the season which has slumped United down to 14th in the Premier League table.

It is fair to say things have not gone to plan for Ten Hag and his team so far, and the finger is quickly being pointed at the club’s new signings.
Italian outlet TuttoJuve recently ranked the top 10 worst Premier League signings this summer, and the £38m deal for De Ligt took the top spot ahead of Joao Felix to Chelsea and Eddie Nketiah to Crystal Palace.
Joshua Zirkzee also features in worst summer transfers
The same report ranked Joshua Zirkzee’s £36m move from Bologna as the fourth-worst Premier League transfer of the summer.
Zirkzee has struggled for form in recent weeks after scoring on his United debut against Fulham, but to include the 23-year-old as one of the worst transfers seems harsh given his age, potential and signs of promise.
The same can be said for Matthijs de Ligt, who has also scored and put in some good performances for United since joining the club.

It is worth pointing out that both De Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee arrived from Italian clubs in the summer and were ranked as two of the worst transfers by Italian media.
They have not hit the ground running at United, but it is far too early to write them off.
