It felt like a proper European night for Manchester United during the 2-2 draw with Lyon in the Europa League.
After a heated build up to Thursday night’s game, Ruben Amorim will ultimately be pleased with his side who showed more than enough to be confident ahead of the second leg in Manchester next week.
Manchester United drew the game against Lyon 2-2, however deserved the win, with individual errors affording Lyon the chance to remain in with a chance ahead of the second leg.

It was Andre Onana who was at fault for United, as he put in a shambolic showing, making errors for both goals which has surely thrust Altay Bayindir into a starting role next week.
Onana may have been bad but Rasmus Hojlund also struggled, with the Dane missing a huge chance and offering very little else in the 63 minutes he lasted before Joshua Zirkzee showed him up.
United had some very good individual performers in the game, and now fans have been voting for their man of the match and it was a player Amorim can always rely on.

United had a few contenders for man of the match, with Leny Yoro the obvious call with his breakout performance, but players such as Bruno Fernandes also had a big impact.
After the game, fans have been voting for man of the match on the official club website, and the lionshare of the vote was split between two players.

- All others had two per cent or less.
Winning the vote with 42 per cent was Fernandes who continued to be captain fantastic with an assist for Zirkzee’s goal, and also took the initial free-kick which led to Yoro’s opener.
This took Fernandes’ record this season to 16 goals and 17 assists which is a remarkable record considering the season which United have had.

After the game, MUTV pundit David May stated that Fernandes’ ball for Zirkzee’s goal was “brilliant”, adding that the Portugal international has been doing it all season, just with his teammates missing the chances.
Against Lyon, Fernandes will have been thrilled with Zirkzee’s finish and despite not being at his best, United’s captain still made the impact.
