Manchester United fans’ telling reaction to Casemiro spoke volumes after the former Real Madrid star’s performance against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag’s men defeated Fulham 1-0 in their opening Premier League match of the season at Old Trafford before suffering a 2-1 away defeat to Brighton.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have won their opening two matches under manager Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout this summer.
Manchester United now welcomed rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford for their final Premier League match before the September international break.
Casemiro started for United in all four matches across all competitions this season, including the penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield.
The 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder was met with heavy criticism last season after his influence waned, with Casemiro looking like a shadow of his former self.

Woeful Casemiro vs Liverpool
Former Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte was unveiled in front of the Old Trafford faithful ahead of the Liverpool match.
Manuel Ugarte was a key target for Manchester United this summer and the 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder is widely tipped to replace Casemiro at the club.
Casemiro’s long-term future at Old Trafford had been in doubt this summer after his poor 2023-24 season, with the Brazilian midfielder linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia.
The Brazil international had a nightmare 45 minutes against Liverpool and played a major fault in the Reds taking a 2-0 lead against United into half-time.
Casemiro recklessly lost the ball with a poor pass and Ryan Gravenberch pounced on the ball, with the Liverpool star feeding Mohamed Salah out on the right.
Salah lifted the ball to the back post from a cross and Luis Diaz was able to connect and head home from close range against Andre Onana at Old Trafford.
Following on from Liverpool’s opener in the 35th minute, Luis Diaz won the ball off Casemiro and played out Mohamed Salah on the right.
Salah then played the ball back to Diaz, who swept a superb first-time side-footed finish past Andre Onana into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
Man Utd fans react to Casemiro vs Liverpool
Casemiro only lasted 45 minutes before Erik ten Hag withdrew him and replaced him with Toby Collyer, who made his Premier League debut against Liverpool.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, slammed Casemiro for his “nightmare” performance at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Red Devils supporters insisted that the “finished” Casemiro’s performance proved the “reason” why United had to sign former PSG star Manuel Ugarte this summer.
“I don’t see a chance for Casemiro to play again once Manuel Ugarte is on the field… he is so finished, man,” one fan said.
Someone else commented: “Casemiro is finished. Glad Ugarte is watching from the stands.”
Another added: “I’m not saying nothing on Ugarte. There is no way anyone can be worse than this Casemiro we are seeing on our screen.”
A fourth X user wrote: “Casemiro is terrified right now. Exposing [Kobbie] Mainoo to open fouls. Ugarte should be seeing this and know what’s in the take for him in the team.”
While a fifth posted: “Once Ugarte is cleared to play, I hope to never see Casemiro start a [Premier League match]… let alone be subbed on before the 75th minute.”
“This is the reason why we had to complete the signing of Ugarte. Casemiro is done,” somebody else tweeted.
And a seventh said: “The decision to keep Casemiro is a huge stain on Ineos and Ten Hag. We could have shipped him to Saudi [Arabia] and brought in Ugarte and [Adrien] Rabiot on a free.”
Another wrote: “Casemiro is having a nightmare while awake. Ugarte must be relishing this opportunity [because] Casemiro clearly is past his prime [and] the EPL can be a touch too quick for him.”
