Manchester United fans have insisted that Erik ten Hag was “right all along” after Jurgen Klopp stunned the world with his decision to leave Liverpool.

Liverpool on Friday announced that Klopp, who led the Reds to a Premier League and a Champions League, would step down at the end of the current season.

Klopp, who was once tipped as a potential successor for Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, recently ensured Liverpool’s place in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

The Reds saw off Premier League side Fulham across two legs in the Carabao Cup semi-final and will now face Chelsea in the cup final next month.

However, Red Devils fans now feel that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been vindicated after he was previously mocked over his bold prediction.

What did Ten Hag say about Klopp?

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Jurgen Klopp admitted that it would “shock” people that he was stepping down, despite his love for the Premier League club.

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy,” he said.

“I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now.”

Following his arrival at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag claimed in 2022 that the Premier League dominance of Manchester City and Liverpool could be coming to an end.

Klopp’s current deal with Liverpool is set to expire in 2026, while Pep Guardiola’s contract at defending Premier League champions City comes to an end in 2025.

During his unveiling at Manchester United, Ten Hag claimed an “era can come to an end” and was “looking forward to [the] battle” with Klopp and Guardiola.

“In this moment I admire them both,” he said at the time.

“They play in this moment really fantastic football, both Liverpool and Manchester City.

“But you always see that an era can come to an end. I am looking forward to battle with them.”

United fans react to Ten Hag’s comments and Klopp’s decision

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, claimed that Ten Hag called it right with his ‘eras can come to an end’ remark.

“Klopp leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, they called Ten Hag a madman, LMAO. Respect my gaffer ‘cause he’s a seer. ‘Era come to an end,’” one fan wrote.

Another posted: “He’s [Ten Hag] not lying. First manager ticked off Ten Hag’s list is Klopp. He did say, ‘Era come to an end.’”

A third added: “Ten Hag talks about eras coming to an end and then Klopp leaves Liverpool and City [could] be expelled from the league. Don’t f*****g mess with my manager.”

“Bro was right all along,” someone else said.

One X user simply tweeted: “They called him a madman.”

While a sixth commented: “Ten Hag said eras come to an end, he saw the future. Klopp is leaving.”

And a seventh wrote: “Ten Hag saw Klopp off? That’s one era down.”
