Michael Carrick shows exactly why Bruno Fernandes is so impactful for Man Utd after the Brighton result
Bruno Fernandes has enjoyed a sensational run of form in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign after Ruben Amorim was sacked as Manchester United manager.
Ruben Amorim had been playing Fernandes deep in the midfield pivot, while Michael Carrick wasted no time moving the Portuguese midfielder back to the No 10 role.
Fernandes’ influence under Carrick’s Man Utd tactics catapulted him to the Premier League Player of the Season award and the FWA Footballer of the Year prize.
Speaking after United’s final match of the Premier League season, Carrick waxed lyrical about the “natural instinct” that Fernandes showed as a playmaker.
“It’s what he’s done so often,” he told BBC Match of the Day, as per BBC Sport.
“The creating and scoring of goals is what he has that gift for. He has a natural instinct for creation and he did it again today.”

Michael Carrick on Man Utd’s 2025-26 Premier League season after the performance against Brighton
United legend Carrick has led the Red Devils to a third-place finish in the Premier League table and Champions League football for the 2026-27 campaign.
Speaking after the match at the Amex, he said: “We’ve finished strong.
“We had a good run and third place was kind of confirmed, so I like the way we finished from that and carried it on.
