Furious Manchester United fans pulled no punches towards one first-team player’s performance under Ruben Amorim against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United hosted West Ham at Old Trafford and the Hammers broke the deadlock in the first half after Tomas Soucek opened the scoring in the 26th minute.

West Ham took a 1-0 lead over United into half-time before Graham Potter’s men extended their advantage after the break in the Premier League clash.

Jarrod Bowen beat a helpless Altay Bayindir from close range in the 57th minute and Ruben Amorim’s men faced an uphill task at Old Trafford after going 2-0 down.

United tried to climb back into the contest on Sunday, but the Red Devils lacked the clinical edge in the final third and West Ham walked away with all three points.

West Ham’s win over United moved Graham Potter’s side above both United and Tottenham in the Premier League table with only two league matches remaining.

The Hammers are now 15th and United have fallen to 16th place and the Red Devils are one point behind West Ham and a point above 17th-place Tottenham.

United have lost a whopping 17 times from 36 Premier League matches and the Red Devils have only managed 10 wins in their abysmal 2024-25 league campaign.

Man Utd fans drop a scathing assessment on Rasmus Hojlund’s display after West Ham’s 2-0 Premier League win at Old Trafford

Rasmus Hojlund led the frontline for Manchester United on Sunday and the 22-year-old Danish forward saw out the full 90 minutes against West Ham in the 2-0 defeat.

The United and Denmark striker has struggled at Old Trafford this season and he has only scored four times in 30 appearances in the Premier League so far.

Despite his run of form, Rasmus Hojlund remains Ruben Amorim’s main striking option after United striker Joshua Zirkzee was ruled out with an injury.

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, ruthlessly slammed Hojlund’s disappointing lack of impact against West Ham at Old Trafford.

One Red Devils supporter tweeted: “I will take £35m for Rasmus Hojlund in the summer; he’s just not good enough to lead the front line for Man United.”

Someone else said: “We cannot come back next season with Hojlund as our main striker… Amorim needs to shape the TF [the f—] up. What happened in the league this season is UNACCEPTABLE… [sic].”

“Hojlund. How he [keeps] missing these chances baffles me a lot,” another United fan posted.

A fourth simply suggested: “Sell Hojlund this summer.”

While a fifth claimed: “Still believe there is a player in Hojlund; unfortunately, he cannot continue at Man Utd, not his fault, shouldn’t ever of been [the] number one striker, and now he should never be that!”

“Hojlund was really, really poor today,” somebody else commented.

Another added: “Hojlund cannot be here next season, the worst season for a striker I’ve seen for us in a long time.”

And an eighth X user argued: “Too many poor performances today. Hojlund, in particular, was a waste of space again. It was like playing with 10 men. How is he starting so many games?”

Ruben Amorim’s position couldn’t be clearer after Man Utd vs West Ham in the Premier League at Old Trafford

Speaking after United’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham, United manager Amorim dropped a brutal assessment of the Red Devils’ lacklustre performance on the weekend.

“If you look at the goals that we suffer, we can avoid these goals,” he told Sky Sports, as per BBC Sport.

“The lack of energy, of urgency. That is the most dangerous thing in this club. You can feel it at the beginning of the game.

“Between our box and [the] opponent’s box, there is a lack of urgency. That is something we have to change in this club.

“I am responsible for that. It is frustrating because we are so near the goals. We have such a lack of urgency to protect our goal.

“This is week by week. We don’t play so well in the Europa League, but we have a different sense of urgency.”

United will now play their penultimate Premier League match of the 2024-25 season on Friday, with Chelsea hosting the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge.
