United fans loved seeing Edinson Cavani stick up for Mason Greenwood

Edinson Cavani has been a mentor to Mason Greenwood over the past few months.

He showed how seriously he takes that role late in the second half in Rome.

Greenwood found himself outnumbered by two Roma defenders who started pushing him around after the ball had gone out of play, before Cavani steamed in.

Cavani reacted like he saw two classmates bullying his younger brother, and pushed Rick Karsdorp in the chest.

He was booked for his troubles. It all seemed worth it.

Solskjaer took Cavani off straight afterwards, keen the Uruguayan didn’t get involved in anything else and pick up a suspension for the final.

Cavani was pumped up after scoring two more goals. He netted four and provided two assists over the two legs, and he looks to be a must-start for the final.

The way he fought for Greenwood demonstrated his leadership, and why he is so admired by his United teammates, manager, and the supporters.

It also shows how engaged Cavani is, and how he cares for his teammates. He is buying into United, and the prospects look good for him extending his contract.
