Facundo Pellistri returned from injury to help Alaves secure a rare victory at the weekend.
The Uruguayan has not had an easy time of it since joining Alaves from Manchester United at the end of January.
Alaves have been on a real slump, and had failed to win a game since Pellistri arrived, despite some impressive showings from the youngster.
After missing a defeat last weekend through a thigh injury sustained the week before, Pellistri was named on the bench as Alaves hosted Huesca.
Played a role in 1-0 win
Pellistri came on in the second half with the must-win game for Alaves locked at 0-0.
Alaves ended up winning through a late goal from Rodrigo Battaglia, securing a victory which lifts them out of the relegation zone.
Having begun the weekend in 19th place, Alaves are 16th, with seven games still to play.
Pellistri created two goalscoring chances in his 23 minute cameo.
He helped inject an urgency into Alaves’ play, completing one dribble in his brief spell too.
This victory will come as a big confidence boost for him. It is his first competitive win in European football.
Pellistri had started four consecutive games before his injury and will hope to reclaim his spot in the line-up.
Alaves may be reluctant to change a winning side, but Pellistri was part of the group of players on the pitch who actually won the game.
Next up is a tough game against Europa League semi-finalists Villarreal this Wednesday, followed by a game away to Valencia on Saturday.
Both matches would be upsets if Alaves win, and yet, also present Pellistri with an opportunity to make a name for himself.
