Manchester United have numerous young players out on loan this season, with Sonny Aljofree among them.
Sending young players out on loan is something which happens yearly at Carrington, and the 2024/25 season has been no different with nine Manchester United players out on loan.
The most high-profile name of those on loan is Jadon Sancho who is at Chelsea for the year before he will then sign permanently in a £25m deal.
Joe Hugill is also on loan at Wigan where he has already been among the goals. Meanwhile, Elyh Harrison has proven excellent at keeping the goals out at Chester.
Rhys Bennett is on loan at Fleetwood Town, while his academy centre-back partner Sonny Aljofree has been at Accrington Stanley – and he’s now made his debut.

How Sonny Aljofree fared on Accrington Stanley debut
Since making his switch to Accrington Stanley on a loan from Manchester United, Aljofree had not played a minute, that is until this past weekend when he played the entire 90 minutes in a 2-1 win for Stanley against Morecambe.
The performance from Aljofree came in an unfamiliar position as he lined up at left-back – opposed to his natural central defender role.
By all accounts, Aljofree was impressive as he absolutely dominated defensively and also showcased his class on the ball.

Aljofree was Stanley’s third highest-rated player, and his impressive outing at left-back also helped Dara Costelloe at left wing to have an immense game.
After the game, the on-loan United player has been speaking about his debut.
Manchester United loanee talks about his senior debut
Speaking with Stanley’s club media following his debut, Aljofree admitted, “[I’m] over the moon.”
“It’s been something that I’ve worked for for my whole life and for it finally to happen, I’m buzzing. Thanks to the manager for trusting in me and giving me the opportunity.
“I’m itching to play football every day. Football is what I love, it’s my passion. But circumstances happen, the manager picks his team, now I’ve finally got my chance [and] we’ve got the three points so I’m happy to help the team in my own little way.
“Obviously I got a little butterflies [before the game] but no real nerves because I’ve been training with them [my teammates] every day. I know what abilities the players have and I trust them. You’ve seen it there, everyone stuck to their task and it came off. It’s just unfortunate we conceded because I’d have liked that clean sheet as well!”
Stanley held onto their lead to pick up the three points despite a late Morecambe goal, and now he has admitted experiences in the United academy helped him to hold out.
“I think it’s just talking to each other on the pitch,” he explained.
“It makes you think more clearly. That’s one of my characteristics. I like to lead. I was captain for the Under-21s, always captain pretty much throughout my Academy journey. One of my attributes is talking, so I want to bring that on to the pitch and bring that to the lads.”
