Manchester United are hoping to send a number of youngsters out on loan this month with little prospect of first-team promotion.
When Ruben Amorim arrived, it was assumed that youth would play a big part in his team from the get-go.
However, despite Amorim’s impressive record of promoting youth with Sporting, it has yet to happen at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have seen Toby Collyer step up in recent weeks to feature in each of the last three games, but no other prospect has been given the chance to shine.
This is likely due to the mess in the first-team, which Amorim will want to fix before bringing in players from the academy. This means utilising the loan market this month has become very important for United.

Ethan Wheatley wanted by SC Cambuur
This month has already seen three youngsters depart United on loan. Ethan Ennis joined Doncaster, Joe Hugill joined Carlisle and Ethan Williams has headed to Cheltenham.
Now, interest in Ethan Wheatley is growing, with one very exciting option emerging on Wednesday.
According to Dutch outlet, the Leeuwarder Courant, Wheatley is wanted on loan by Keuken Kampioen Divisie side SC Cambuur.
Cambuur are in the second division but are in the promotion race – which the Dutch side now want Wheatley to be a part of.
This would be a massive opportunity for Wheatley and could be the moment his career has lifted off.
Golden chance for talented Manchester United striker
A January loan has always looked likely for Wheatley.
Before Cambuur links emerged, Wheatley was linked with Wrexham. But a move to the Netherlands is far more exciting and could be more valuable to his development.
Heading abroad on loan would be a bold move, and would demonstrate that Wheatley really backs himself to succeed, it is not the safe loan move.
It would be similar to a move Mason Mount made as a youngster. Mount spent time on loan at Vitesse which was huge in his development.
Hopefully, this move is pulled off as it would be very exciting for the player, and for fans to keep tabs on his progress.
