Ethan Ennis is ready to give Manchester United’s under-18s side a much needed boost.
Ennis has been pictured training at Carrington for the first time since his move from Liverpool.
Ennis, wearing the number 79, is pictured above alongside defender Logan Pye in 78, and striker Manni Norkett in 84.
After signing his deal with United officially earlier in the month, Ennis has been a little behind his teammates in terms of fitness, who went on a training camp to Scotland in July.
This is why Ennis has not featured in any of the under-18s opening two matches, and the pictures are a sign he could make his bow next weekend.
Tough start to the campaign
United’s under-18s were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City to start the season and then 5-0 by Ennis’ former side Liverpool at the weekend.
It must be noted that United’s side has been almost completely changed from the team which finished second in the under-18s league last season, with the core of that side promoted to the under-23s.
The opponents United faced did not make as many changes, and effectively lined up against the bulk of last season’s United under-16s side.
Nonetheless, the coaching staff have faith this young group will come good, and Ennis has been signed with that in mind.
He struck a hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup last season for Liverpool and now he brings his talents to a United side which could do with him.
Next weekend United’s under-18s face Leeds, a team who we beat home and away last season at this level. Ennis will hope to play a part.
