Chido Obi-Martin has already made waves at Manchester United and he’s now been in U21 action in the Premier League International Cup.
Upon arriving at Manchester United officially earlier this month, Chido Obi-Martin had brought more fanfare than any 16-year-old ever has at the club.
After only three outings for United, already Obi-Martin is getting comparisons to Erling Haaland and it is pretty easy to see why.
Obi-Martin made his first start for United’s U18s last Saturday and within 14 minutes, he had tallied up a hattrick.
The Dane is living up to his billing as one of the most talented 2007-born footballers, and due to his hot start, Obi-Martin has already gotten U21 action for United.

Manchester United U21 draw with PSV
The Premier League International Cup continued on Wednesday night and it saw Travis Binnion field his Manchester United side against PSV with the two sides drawing 1-1.
For United, this was a second draw in the competition and places the Red Devils on two points from two games, sitting 4th in the Group C table at the time of writing.
The game saw some exciting players start, but it was Obi-Martin’s inclusion from the start which caught our eye – playing vastly above his age category.
However, Obi-Martin did struggle slightly as the U21s are not as free-flowing and dominant as the U18s – but with limited chances, he did ask questions of the PSV defence.
At half-time, his night ended with Gabriele Biancheri emerging from the bench to steal the headlines in the 91st minute as he scored his 15th goal of the season from the penalty spot.
| Biancheri against | Scoreline | Scored by Biancheri |
| Vs. Man City U18 | United 2-0 City | 1 |
| Vs. Leicester U18 | United 2-1 Leicester | 2 |
| Vs. Blackburn U21 | United 3-1 Blackburn | 1 |
| Vs. Liverpool U18 | United 2-0 Liverpool | 1 |
| Vs. Newcastle U18. | United 5-1 Newcastle | 2 |
| Vs. Middlesbrough | United 4-0 Middlesbrough | 2 |
| Vs. Blackburn U18 | United 9-0 Blackburn | 2 |
| Vs. Spurs U18 | United 3-4 Spurs | 1 |
| Vs. Zalgiris U19 | United 5-2 Zalgiris | 2 |
| Vs. PSV U21 | United 1-1 PSV | 1 |
Biancheri’s incredible season of goals is showing no sign of slowing down just yet – and this one salvaged a point from a dire situation.
Gabriele Biancheri and Chido Obi-Martin in battle
Right now within the United Academy, the attacking options are very exciting – with Biancheri in red-hot form along with Obi-Martin.

Both have proven their elite ability at U18 level, which leaves there strong competition for U21 football – while Ethan Wheatley may also stake a claim to this level.

Goals come naturally to both Biancheri and Obi-Martin but the demand for minutes means they are now in competition with one another.
Right now, Biancheri is the more polished article – clearly more effective against older opposition although this should be expected given the age gap.
As long as both keep thriving, there will be a very happy problem for Binnion and Adam Lawrence to organise between themselves.
