Back in January 2019, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was temporary manager at Manchester United and the only piece of first team transfer activity conducted was the sale of Marouane Fellaini to Shandong Luneng.
There was one arrival, with young forward Noam Emeran clinching a move to United’s academy from French side Amiens.
Emeran, 16 at the time, turned down interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus to sign with United.
But since signing with United, Emeran’s career has barely got started.

He signed a professional deal with the club last November, yet his 2019/20 season was ruined by injuries.
In fact his most important contribution since joining was to help convince young compatriot Hannibal Mejbri to follow him to Old Trafford last summer [Le Parisien].
New season, new start
Emeran was pictured training at Carrington last week as the under-18s made their return.
The 17-year-old looked in good shape and positive spirits as he looks to kickstart his career at Old Trafford.
Emeran is a forward who is best positioned on the left of a front three.
Sky Sports reports he models his name on a combination of Leroy Sane, Neymar, and Anthony Martial. That’s quite a mix.
Amiens’ club website described Emeran’s contribution in a youth tournament glowingly, shortly before his exit to United, Sky Sports reported: “He is the guy who has a magic left foot, who knows how to dribble with elegance, efficiency and especially knows how to finish, scoring three goals including a free-kick like Messi.”
On the left of a front three, Emeran should get chances for the under-18s, with Anthony Elanga expected to step up to the under-23 side this season.
There is competition centrally with Mateo Mejia, Dillon Hoojewerf and new signing Joe Hugill among those competing for a role.

Emeran could play centrally too, but he may have more success alongside one of the other strikers.
It is disappointing that he has not been able to make an impact so far due to injury, yet at just 17, there is plenty of time for him to do so.
He has a fresh start now, and having had extra time to settle off the pitch and work in the gym, this is Emeran’s opportunity to remind fans of his presence, that he is an exciting prospect who should not be forgotten about.
If he can make a big impact in the academy this season, it will be a real bonus.
