Amad Diallo could make his debut for Manchester United’s under-23 side this weekend.

ESPN report Diallo has been earmarked for a starting berth when United’s under-23s face Liverpool.

The fixture will be held on Saturday at 1pm on Merseyside as United look to bounce back from an under-23 defeat to Leicester at the start of last week.

The young United team has struggled at times this season and lost Anthony Elanga to an injury last time out. That game came a little too soon for Diallo, who only arrived in England days earlier.

Elanga’s status for this one is unclear, but his potential absence is one extra reason why Diallo’s creativity is required.

From a first team perspective, it is also very important Diallo gets some minutes in, with his last taste of action coming in early December for Atalanta.

Diallo has now had two weeks of training with United’s first team although has not yet made any matchday squads.

Getting in minutes for the under-23s is the next step in terms of preparing him for a first team chance.
