Premier League rivals are showing an interest in Manchester United transfer target Angel Gomes ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.
Angel Gomes has been steadily realising his obvious potential at Lille in recent years after leaving Manchester United in 2020.
United had high hopes for Gomes but he chose to let his contract expire with the club in search of first-team minutes and it was a bold move that has paid off for the midfielder.
The 24-year-old earned his first England caps after being called up by the new interim manager Lee Carsley during September’s international break and his progress has not gone unnoticed at Old Trafford.
United are keeping an eye on Gomes’ situation at Lille as his contract approaches an end but the prospect of getting a good player on the cheap has attracted other suitors as well.

Premier League clubs eyeing January move for Angel Gomes
Gomes’ contract with Lille expires in 2025 and he would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with Premier League clubs ahead of the summer from January onwards.
However, according to The Telegraph, Lille are ‘bracing’ themselves for January bids for Gomes from a host of Premier League and European clubs.
It’s reported Gomes is on the ‘radar’ of several sides, who may tempt Lille to sell the player for a cut price in January rather than risk losing him for nothing a few months later.
Newcastle United have already been linked with a move for Gomes.
It appears United will have stiff competition if they want to bring Gomes back to Old Trafford and director of football Dan Ashworth will have to move quickly to secure his signature.
Should Man United sign Angel Gomes?
If Gomes is available, especially on the cheaper side, then it is a signing that makes a lot of sense.
Though Erik Ten Hag does have a lot of midfield options at his disposal at present, he is still relying heavily on the ageing duo of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
United were willing to allow both of them to leave in the summer transfer window but found no takers, so they are clearly planning for a future without them but they will have to be replaced,
Gomes offers great qualities that could further revolutionise United’s often-stagnant midfield.
The 24-year-old has great agility and control to operate out of tight spaces and composure to dictate play with a good range of passing. He’s also versatile enough to play in deep and attacking areas and is effective in the final third, contributing 10 assists last season.
It may have taken an unconventional path to get there but Gomes is now perfect for the United first team.
