Manchester United still have a chance of signing Timo Werner next year, despite his new contract.
Werner’s deal at RB Leipzig was set to expire next summer, before he agreed a new deal until 2023 yesterday.
German outlet Kicker claim Werner’s contract has a 30 million Euro release clause – approximately £27.5 million.
While it would have been nice to land him for free, £27.5 million is still an absolute steal for Werner.

His record
Werner, 23, has begun this season well, scoring two goals in two games.
Over the last three seasons combined, Werner has scored 40 Bundesliga goals and provided 19 assists.
He can play both as a striker and a wide left forward in a three-man attack.
The German international is just the type of talented young player United should be targeting, and would be a superb replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

Are United interested?
United have been linked to Werner, but it is fair to describe their interest as speculative at best.
The Mirror reported earlier this year that United could be tempted by Werner. Fox Sports this weekend also described Werner as a United target in their headline about his new contract.
Werner himself might struggle to turn United down.
Goal reported that Werner told Sky Germany last year: “As a young boy, you always dream of the big club you’d like to play for.
“It used to be Manchester United under Alex Ferguson, who always won. A young boy is always a fan of those who win. You can’t just drop something like that.”
If United were not considering Werner, then they really should be.
His release clause gives United a second chance, and the club’s scouting team have until January to figure it out.
Werner is too good to ignore – and his price backs this up.
