Robin van Persie is about to hand Man Utd a frustrating transfer blow, exiled player impacted

Manchester United are looking to offload Tyrell Malacia this summer, but a return to Feyenoord seemingly won’t be on the cards.

Manchester United snapped up Bryan Mbeumo this week, finally bringing the Brentford forward to Old Trafford.

The deal to sign Mbeumo went on for weeks, but United have managed to finalise a deal at long, long last.

The attention may now turn to outgoing deals, with United looking to offload unwanted players and raise funds.

Marcus Rashford has moved to Barcelona, while Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Antony.

Jadon Sancho’s move to Juventus has been held up, but United will hope for more progress on outgoing moves in the coming days.

Feyenoord hand Manchester United a blow over Tyrell Malacia

Most of United’s unwanted players are attackers, with Alejandro Garnacho also told to leave United alongside Rashford, Antony and Sancho.

One defender is also up for grabs, with Tyrell Malacia also unwanted under Amorim.

Malacia was sent out on loan to PSV Eindhoven before the January transfer deadline, with United hoping to see that deal become permanent.

PSV have now sent Malacia back to Old Trafford, turning down the option to sign the Dutchman full-time.

Reports in the Netherlands suggested that Feyenoord would be in the mix to re-sign Malacia, three years since selling him to United.

That move would have seen Malacia return to his hometown of Rotterdam, with Feyenoord in the market for a left-back.

However, KVC Westerlo left-back Jordan Bos is now set to join Feyenoord, with Voetbalzone showing photos of him at their De Kuip stadium on Thursday.

Australian ace Bos will join for €5million (£4.35million) and bring Feyenoord’s left-back search to an end.

Feyenoord sold left-back Quilindschy Hartman to Burnley and saw Hugo Bueno return to Wolverhampton Wanderers, so another left-back signing to compete with Gijs Smal was a top priority.

Bos will now become that player, meaning that Feyenoord surely won’t move for Malacia, leaving United waiting for another suitor to emerge.

Robin van Persie’s encouraging start

The decision to sign Bos rather than move to re-sign Malacia will have been taken by sporting director Mark Ruijl, but also by boss Robin van Persie.

Former United striker Van Persie became Feyenoord boss earlier this year, completing an emotional return to his boyhood club.

Van Persie teamed up with Rene Hake at Feyenoord, with the former United duo enjoying a strong start together.

Van Persie won eight of his first 13 games in charge of Feyenoord, drawing one and losing four.

Many believed that Van Persie wasn’t ready for such a huge job, especially with fans still reeling from Arne Slot’s exit last year.

Van Persie has made an encouraging start, though, and United fans will keep close tabs on his progress in the Feyenoord hot seat – with or without Malacia in his squad.
