Nimfasha Berchimas has already been praised in United States as Manchester United face transfer competition

Manchester United continue to target top young players in the Ineos era with Nimfasha Berchimas becoming a potential target.

Manchester United bring 2024 to an end on Monday night, hosting Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim has now lost four of his last five Premier League games and United need a response against the Magpies.

2025 needs to be a much better year for United but Ineos are certainly taking a long-term approach.

United have recruited top young talents since Ineos arrived at the club and we would expect that strategy to continue.

Chido Obi quit Arsenal for United, Sekou Kone joined United from Guidars FC and fellow Malian Daba Diakite is now being targeted by United.

Dean Smith verdict on Nimfasha Berchimas

More signings in that mould will be wanted in 2025, even if United fans may want some more instant-impact additions.

One player United have been taking a look at of late is Charlotte FC wonderkid Nimfasha Berchimas.

United agreed to take Berchimas on trial earlier in December and Berchimas posted a photo from Old Trafford just a week before Christmas.

Berchimas scored against Burnley and may well have done enough to tempt United into striking a deal.

With that in mind, we looked at how Charlotte FC boss Dean Smith has spoken about Berchimas.

Speaking to the Charlotte Post back in February, Smith praised Berchimas as a ‘real fast twitch player’.

Smith hailed Berchimas for his pressing and his skills on the ball whilst backing him to get better in the coming years.

The former Aston Villa boss isn’t afraid to give chances to young players and Berhcimas fits that bill having caught his eye.

“He’s a real fast twitch player,” said Smith.

“He presses very well. He’s got good skills; he’ll just get better. I don’t mind playing people if they show me in training they’ve got that application and attitude to go and do things, then let’s have a look at them in a match,” he added.

Manchester United aware of Berchimas competition

United have a foot in the door with Berchimas having always brought him over to Manchester.

The reality is though that Berchimas is one of the top young talents in Major League Soccer and he is on the radar elsewhere.

The Daily Mail claim that United are ‘well aware’ of rival interest in Berchimas from elsewhere.

Bayern Munich have an interest in Berchimas and his impressive trial spell with United may only spark more interest around Europe.

United will be favourites for any deal having already taken Berchimas on trial though and with Smith’s admiration clear, a 2025 deal could be in the offing.
