The youth revolution and a push towards a younger, fitter squad under Ineos is set to receive another boost in the form of a potential academy jewel.

After a summer window that brought players like Chido Obi-Martin, Samuel Lusale, Sekou Kone, and many more, Ineos are not stopping anytime soon.

The planning for the next youth recruitment drive is already on to complement players like Shea Lacey, Amir Ibragimov, and more who are coming through the club system.

Their planning and scouting have led them to the MLS, where, at 16, one of the brightest talents in his age group, Nimfasha Berchimsa, is set to visit Carrington.

Who is Nimfasha Berchimas?

Nimfasha Berchimas is a 16-year-old forward who plays for MLS side Charlotte FC mainly as a right-footed left-winger.

He became the ninth-youngest player in MLS history when he debuted for the senior side in February 2024, playing in their 1-0 victory against New York City FC.

He has already made appearances for the USA youth side, where he shone at the FIFA U17 World Cup which is where many scouts would have had an eye on him.

Since then, he has been promoted quickly up the ranks, going as far as to make appearances for the U20 side as well.

Berchimsa is a tricky inside forward in the modern mold. At just 5’8″ so far, he isn’t the biggest on the field but is extremely pacey and full of trickery.

With time, he should fill up his frame which has great potential, and that will help him become a more complete player. He is already versatile enough that he has made some appearances as a right-winger.

That two-footedness should help him a great deal when he permanently becomes a fixture in the senior setup. So, where does Man Utd come into the picture?

Man Utd interest in Nimfasha Berchimas

Ben Jacobs and Tom Bogert report that Berchimas is set to visit Carrington “next week” to train and experience the environment at the club.

United have a concrete interest in his services and a bid for a permanent move could follow in the future if he makes an impression at the club.

Besides United, Bayern Munich also hold an interest in him and after Alphonso Davies’ move from the MLS directly to the Bundesliga paid massive dividends, they’ll provide stern competition.

That interest will only increase further as Berchimas has taken to senior football seamlessly despite being so young with a developing frame.

United already have an embarrassment of attacking riches on the wings in the academy, especially the right-footed inside forward so his versatility should make him stand out.

Like the signing of Obi-Martin, Lusale, or Kone, his development in the youth sides will be monitored with great interest, if he signs, but his transfer will be more of a long-term ploy to establish a spine of the team in the future.
