Thanks to Ineos’ work in 2024, Manchester United could be set for a significant financial boost this summer, which could change the entire summer window.

This summer, Ineos have big plans in the transfer window, but in order for these to be completed, sales are required at Old Trafford. Due to this, it is widely expected that Manchester United will have an exodus this summer.

During Ruben Amorim’s first summer in charge of Sporting, this also happened, a squad overhaul which completely changed the club’s trajectory. So United are thought to be ready to let at least 10 players depart permanently.

Of these, some will be valuable, with Aston Villa having the option to buy Marcus Rashford for £40m, which they look likely to do as he has been key this season for them.

Meanwhile, United have already refused Real Betis’ loan offers for Antony, as the club would rather agree on a permanent deal. Andre Onana and Casemiro are two others who may be on the chopping block, with both expected to bring in £20 million.

However, it is the move of a former United player who could change the game for Ineos this summer.

Mason Greenwood is rumoured for a big-money Saudi Arabia move

Last summer, United sold Mason Greenwood to Marseille for £25m, which was low considering the form that the academy graduate had shown on loan the previous season at Getafe.

The sale included a 50% sell-on clause, which could come in very useful this summer.

Now, according to Goal in France, Greenwood has become a subject of interest for Saudi Arabian sides, with the PIF (Public Investment Fund) making a money-spinning €90m (£77m) move, which would see United receive £38.5m thanks to the sell-on clause.

Saudi sides Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad are thought to be behind the move, with Greenwood eyed as the new star of the Saudi Pro League. That being said, despite the millions on offer, Roberto De Zerbi is not keen to sell, with the belief that Greenwood is yet to reach his highest potential.

Greenwood already believes he has outgrown Marseille and is therefore looking to move.

Manchester United could open up £190m of spending with Mason Greenwood sale

This summer, Manchester United need to sell to do the groundbreaking recruitment which is planned under Amorim’s watch.

Plans are being formulated to revamp the entire attack, with United keen to sign both Liam Delap and Matheus Cunha as two players who would be immediate starters.

Additionally, United are thought to be in the running to sign Rayan Cherki, who would cost just £20m, making him a possible bargain for the Red Devils.

All of this would be possible if United are to agree on permanent sales for Rashford and Antony, but it will be made easier by the money brought in through Greenwood’s sell on.

On the books, getting £38.5m from Greenwood would have the value of £190m for United, considering he is an academy graduate and, therefore, it is pure profit.

Due to this, it might mean United are even able to recruit further in the attack, maybe signing a second striker such as Victor Osimhen – an exciting window awaits.
