New development over Mason Greenwood future as three European sides enter race

Mason Greenwood is attracting interest from multiple European sides after his form for Getafe, according to reports.

Manchester United decided to loan Mason Greenwood to Getafe following the backlash they received when a report from The Athletic detailed how the Red Devils were planning on bringing the 22-year-old back following their internal investigation.

The Englishman has done well for the Spanish side this season with two goals and three assists, which includes a stunning 30-yard strike against Ameria.

As a result of his good performances, the Englishman has been linked with a move away from United permanently with Sevilla showing an interest previously.

Greenwood interest

According to a report from The Sun, three European sides are interested in the Englishman and could make a move for Greenwood once he returns to United in the summer.

Valencia and Real Sociedad are both “monitoring” the English striker and could be poised to make a move in the summer, alongside Getafe, although his current team are at the back of the queue for his signature.

Greenwood has also reportedly accepted his career at Old Trafford is over, with a source telling The Sun: “It is highly unlikely Mason will return to Manchester United.

“That ship has sailed, and he looks set to enjoy the next phase of his career in Spain where he has really settled and found his feet both personally and professionally.”

United’s chance to sell Greenwood

Prior to the Englishman’s loan move to Getafe, United may have struggled to recoup money for the forward following his lack of game time over the past 18 months.

Now, however, the forward has done very well in La Liga and could command a decent fee for his future, which could help the Red Devils if money continues to be an issue next summer.

With the money from Greenwood’s potential sale, United could go into the market and search for a backup striker option with Anthony Martial’s future at the club remaining uncertain, despite his good performance against Everton.
