Fabrizio Romano explains Manchester United stance on Anthony Martial future

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of two Manchester United players with the January transfer window coming up.

It looks like players will leave Old Trafford in January if Sir Jim Ratcliffe completes his 25 per cent takeover of United in time for the winter transfer window.

Erik ten Hag will be hoping to add to his team with the current injury issues meaning that the Dutchman has not had a fully fit squad since the start of the season.

For players to be signed, it looks like some of the squad’s fringe players will have to leave the club. Fabrizio Romano has explained what he knows about two of the club’s forwards.

Romano’s update

Writing in his CaughtOffside exclusive column, the Italian transfer guru has provided an update on the futures of Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial.

“I recently revealed that Juventus asked for information on Jadon Sancho as they consider a loan move for January, but I’m afraid fans asking me for updates since then are going to be disappointed because I don’t have anything just yet,” Romano said.

“I don’t expect much to change very soon either because the key point with United right now is there will likely be changes to the board under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, so it will take some time to decide what to do.

“Martial, like some other player at United, remains on the same list: if they receive an important proposal, he could leave. Otherwise, they’re happy to keep him as part of rotations.”

Sancho’s time at Old Trafford is surely coming to an end following his fallout with Ten Hag. A move to Saudi Arabia has been mooted but it looks like Juventus are the favourites to sign the former Borussia Dortmund winger.

Martial’s future

As for the French forward, his future looks to be a lot less certain but the reality is, Martial is approaching 10 years at Old Trafford and still can’t hold down a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford.

His injury issues haven’t helped his plight at Old Trafford but, unless he can improve his injury struggles, then allowing him to leave at the end of the season is surely the best decision for everyone.

The French forward will have six months to prove he deserves to remain at Old Trafford otherwise, his United adventure will surely end next summer.
