Marcus Rashford willing to take pay cut to seal dream move, Man Utd loanee doesn’t want to stay at Aston Villa

Marcus Rashford was dealt a major blow at the weekend after a hamstring injury ruled him out of action for Aston Villa’s FA Cup semi-final defeat.

After falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim, Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan at the end of the winter transfer window.

The Manchester United forward scored four goals and registered six assists during his time at Villa, although there are now fears the hamstring injury will end Rashford’s season.

Rashford is set to miss Villa’s Premier League games against Fulham, Bournemouth and Tottenham. He is not eligible to play their final league match against United at Old Trafford.

That means Rashford has until May 18, when Villa face Tottenham, to return if he is to appear for Unai Emery’s side before the end of his temporary deal.

It is understood that United are in talks with Villa over whether to recall Rashford so he can recover from his hamstring injury back in Manchester, but no decision has been made on that front yet.

Marcus Rashford willing to take pay cut to secure Barcelona transfer

The relationship between Rashford and Amorim is unlikely to be repaired over the summer.

That means Rashford faces an uncertain future, despite Villa’s option to sign him for £40m at the end of his loan deal.

It has long been suggested that Rashford is dreaming of a move to Barcelona, but those claims have re-emerged along with a strong suggestion that he doesn’t want to stay at Villa.

According to The Mirror, Rashford is willing to seal a dream move to Barcelona after accepting that he has no chance of playing for United again while Amorim is head coach.

The report claims Rashford doesn’t want to join Villa and favours a move abroad – with Barcelona being his preferred destination.

Rashford currently earns a whopping £350,000-a-week and that is likely to be a stumbling block for clubs interested in signing him. However, the England international is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to secure a move.

Another potential option mooted in the report claims Rashford could spend next season on loan again, with United contributing to his wages, though Ineos will be keen on a permanent exit.

United set for Rashford talks

Rashford is represented by his brother Dwaine Maynard, who is scheduled for talks with United over the coming weeks.

United are gearing up for talks with Rashford’s representatives to hopefully reach an agreement on his next move.

Despite being recalled to the England squad by Thomas Tuchel in March, Rashford’s injury could see him miss England’s international fixtures in June.

It would benefit United if they could get a deal sorted for Rashford as soon as possible. That way, Amorim can add to the squad and prepare for the 2025/26 season.
