Manchester United’s January transfer window could soon be moving on from a standstill as the month ticks closer to ending, with multiple developments in the pipeline.

Patrick Dorgu could be Man Utd’s first signing under Ruben Amorim and that incoming could be balanced by the departures of multiple players.

Antony is set for Real Betis, Tyrell Malacia is free to leave and most importantly, the Marcus Rashford situation could soon see a resolution.

After a month of endless speculation and links to a barrage of clubs, one European heavyweight seems determined to clinch his signature with urgency.

Marcus Rashford transfer saga could end soon

Amorim has completely sidelined Rashford and it looks like there’s no way back for the player so United are really left with no choice but to bite the bullet.

They need to send him away, be it for six months before an eventual permanent move or ideally, a permanent deal in January itself.

Rashford’s wages were a stumbling block and they’ll continue to remain so but a potential bidding war developing for the player could play into United’s hands.

Spanish outlet SPORT reports that Barcelona have been kicked into urgency on the Rashford situation after seeing Borussia Dortmund concretely proceed with their own move.

Rashford’s links to Dortmund gained pace in recent days and even though the financials are tricky, their presence in the picture has alerted other clubs to move too.

The report states that Ansu Fati’s departure would be ideal to facilitate Rashford’s arrival, who is liked “very much” by manager Hansi Flick.

Man Utd need to resolve Rashford situation on priority

Dortmund and Barcelona are the two leading clubs in the race because AC Milan are moving for Kyle Walker, which would prevent them from signing another non-EU player.

That is not ideal from United’s perspective because they need to reach a resolution on this situation one way or another by the time the window ends.

Amorim already has plenty of headaches at the club and questions about Rashford before and after every game is something he can do without.

He has made it clear already that Rashford is not best for the team which weakens United’s hand in negotiations but the situation has gone far beyond optics already.

They need to cut ties, even if it means taking a loss. They’re already doing that on the pitch, better to do it off the pitch for long-term positive impact.
