Manchester United don’t have big money to spend this month but are now working on a potentially perfect signing for Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United suffered another home defeat on Sunday afternoon, losing 3-1 at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion.
Ruben Amorim cannot be happy with United’s home form and it’s clear that he needs to strengthen this squad.
United’s £100million summer net spend leaves Amorim with little wiggle room despite some areas needing major improvement.
A left wing back has to be the top priority for Amorim with Diogo Dalot not a natural fit in that role.
Tyrell Malacia has been made available and United are now working on a signing.

Manchester United working on permanent signing
Antony is set to join Real Betis and United appear ready to move in for a new addition.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that United are now in talks to sign Lecce wing back Patrick Dorgu.
It’s stated that a deal is not in place yet but talks are progressing with the aim of bringing Dorgu to Old Trafford.
United In Focus understands via Graeme Bailey that the move to sign Dorgu is advancing and that he was the wing back United scouts loved.
United were linked with Nuno Mendes but Dorgu has attracted admiring glances from United scouts.
Malacia’s exit will be key but Amorim has really pushed United to bring in a natural left-sided player.
Amorim feels that the lack of quality left wing back options is hampering his 3-4-3 system and a new signing is needed as United just don’t have the type of player he needs.
Dorgu appears to be the man for United, though he may not come cheap with more than three years left on his contract.
Reporter Ben Jacobs notes that United are hoping to strike a deal worth around £21million to £25million.
That may not work though as Fabrizio Romano claims that, whilst Dorgu is keen on joining United, Lecce want €40million – around £34million.
United therefore have a gap to bridge and will hope to grind Lecce’s price down before the January deadline.
Who is Manchester United target Patrick Dorgu?
Dorgu is of Nigerian descent but hails from Denmark having been born in Copenhagen.
After emerging in the Nordsjælland youth ranks, Dorgu completed a move to Lecce in 2022.
The 20-year-old has now made more than 50 first-team appearances for Lecce whilst picking up four caps for Denmark.
As noted in December, Dorgu won the Danish Talent of the Year award, following in the footsteps of United star Rasmsu Hojlund in the process.
Praised as ‘incredible’ and compared to Theo Hernandez by Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb, Dorgu is one of the top young left backs in the game.
United could lock down that left wing back spot for years to come with Dorgu having shown huge potential over in Italy.
