Manchester United have missed out on the signing of Geovany Quenda and now appear to have suffered another transfer loss to Chelsea.
Manchester United fans no doubt can’t wait for the end of the season.
United’s 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday night at least keeps the Europa League dream alive.
Now into the last eight, United have some hope of ending the season on a high under Ruben Amorim.
United are still stuck in the bottom half of the Premier League table though and fans will hope for long-term success under Amorim.
Signings will be needed this summer but, well in advance of the summer window, United have suffered a double setback.

Chelsea agree to sign Manchester United target Dario Essugo
We have seen United being linked with a number of Sporting players since Amorim’s arrival in November.
Viktor Gyokeres seemingly isn’t keen on joining United but Amorim now appears to have missed out on two players.
Chelsea have won the race for Geovany Quenda with the Sporting teenager all set for a move to Stamford Bridge.
United would not match Chelsea’s stance on Quenda given that the Blues are loaning him back to Sporting for next season.
That just didn’t work for United but Chelsea are now set to sign another Sporting talent who had been linked with following Amorim.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Sporting midfielder Dario Essugo in a €22million (£18.5million).
Reports back in November suggested that United were keen on signing Essugo having tracked his displays on loan at Las Palmas.
The 20-year-old made his Sporting debut under Amorim and a reunion at United had been speculated – despite Amorim sending him on loan to Spain.
Essugo has now completed his medical with Chelsea and will be heading to West London – though whether he will be loaned out just like Quenda remains to be seen.
Sporting players still on United radar
Gyokeres seemingly won’t be arriving and now both Quenda and Essugo can be ruled out too.
Maybe Amorim won’t raid his former club, but there are other names in the mix.
Sporting playmaker Francisco Trincao is on United’s radar with the former Barcelona talent eyed up for a role in Amorim’s attack.
Sporting want to keep Trincao but reuniting with Amorim – having also worked together at Braga – may be difficult to ignore.
Defender Ousmane Diomande is on United’s wish list too, so United may still push for signings from Sporting despite seeing Quenda and Essugo move on.
