Manchester United have been strongly linked with signing a number of Sporting players in 2025.
Ruben Amorim landing the Manchester United head coach job has led to a fresh start at his former club Sporting, and many players will be questioning their own futures.
United have already been linked to Geovany Quenda and Viktor Gyokeres, while Goncalo Inacio has been connected with a move for years.
Another name has emerged into the mix, with United In Focus told Francisco Trincao is emerging as a possible transfer target.

Manchester United want Francisco Trincao
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has begun work with his new Manchester United players and will be assessing them closely, and deciding where he needs to strengthen.
United In Focus has been told by journalist Graeme Bailey that Trincao is a player Manchester United are making checks on, and have had interest even before Amorim’s arrival.
Amorim handed Trincao his debut at Braga and later signed him for Sporting, after a spell at Barcelona, which also involved a brief loan at Wolves.
Bailey explains: “I am told Trincao really is a player that Amorim loves, having discovered him at Braga.
“Trincao can play anywhere across front-line and he has stepped up a level under Amorim at Sporting and I am told within the club he has is considered as important as any player.
“Trincao’s current deal expires in 2026 and they are looking to tie him down to a new deal, but nothing is close.
“Amorim is not going to insist on any players follow him, but United’s footballing department hugely respect his opinion, and they have already asked about certain positions during their talks.
“The likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Geovany Quenda, Ousmane Diomande and Morten Hjulmand have all been linked but I am told that Trincao could be the one to watch when it comes to joining Amorim and his staff at Old Trafford.
“United’s scouts were already well aware of Trincao – indeed they are well versed on the Sporting squad having watched them closely in the last couple of years.”
Trincao a fit under Amorim
Francisco Trincao starred in Sporting’s victory over City, demonstrated how effective Ruben Amorim’s attacking players can be.
The 24-year-old has three goals and nine assists this season and has nine caps for Portugal. His contract situation certainly makes him appealing to any club next summer.
He scored a brace earlier this year in Amorim’s biggest ever win as Sporting boss, a 8-0 victory over the coach’s former club Casa Pia.
Ruben Amorim has pledged not to sign any Sporting players during the January transfer window, but the door has been left open for summer 2025.
Manchester United have Amad playing in Trincao’s position, but the Portuguese forward’s versatility means he remains an intriguing option.
