Manchester United take new stance on offloading high earner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe wasn’t a fan of his arrival

Manchester United may look to wheel and deal in the final week of the January transfer window as Ruben Amorim moulds his squad.

This has been a quiet transfer window for Manchester United but it may be about to burst into life.

Antony’s move to Real Betis has been confirmed and United are keen to bring in at least one new face.

United are closing in on Patrick Dorgu having held positive talks with Lecce over a potential deal.

The hope is that a deal for the Danish left wing back will be in place within the next 48 hours.

Dorgu would be a significant investment for United and we may yet see more players follow Antony out of Old Trafford.

Manchester United stance on Casemiro

Antony’s exit helps United but other big names could go.

Marcus Rashford has been exiled under Ruben Amorim whilst Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with Chelsea.

Then there is Casemiro, who is surely come towards the end of his United career.

Al-Nassr want Casemiro but there has been little movement on a potential exit for the Brazilian midfielder.

ESPN now report that United are now open to letting Casemiro leave on loan before the transfer deadline.

It’s suggested that United will ‘listen to loan offers’ for Casemiro and will pay a portion of his huge wages to make a deal happen.

Freeing up even part of Casemiro’s wages would be a huge financial boost for United but time is running out.

Saudi Arabia has been touted as a destination for Casemiro, but the report highlights Roma’s interest.

Claudio Ranieri would seemingly be interested in taking Casemiro to the Eternal City after hitting a strong run of form in Serie A.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will surely want Casemiro exit

Casemiro hasn’t played a single minute for United in 2025.

The Brazilian’s last appearance came in the dire 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle United – a game in which he struggled badly.

Amorim now appears to be moving in a different direction and would be willing to let Casemiro go.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe may also be right on board with Casemiro’s potential exit – even if he has to contribute a chunk of his wages.

Reports in 2023 suggested that Ratcliffe was unimpressed with United signing Casemiro.

The huge fee and wages for an ageing player were not what United needed in Ratcliffe’s eyes, quickly picking him out as a particular disappointment.

Casemiro hasn’t rediscovered his form this season and whether a loan deal emerges in the coming days or not, his United career is surely coming to an end.
