Manchester United are still hoping to sign Lecce talent Patrick Dorgu but Manchester City could throw a spanner in the works.
There is now less than a week of the January transfer window to go and Manchester United need to get moving.
Ruben Amorim picked up a 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday night but United cannot afford to think that this squad is nearly good enough.
Antony’s move to Real Betis has been confirmed and United will now look to secure a new signing.
United’s £100million summer net spend means Amorim isn’t really able to strike big-money deals and overhaul the United squad this month.
A new left wing back is a top priority though and United are pushing for a deal to be done in advance of deadline day.

Manchester United confident of Patrick Dorgu deal
United opened talks to sign Patrick Dorgu last week but talks with Lecce have been difficult.
Lecce don’t want to sell Dorgu in the middle of the season as they battle relegation from Serie A.
United have failed with two bids for Dorgu but talks have been continuing in the hope of finding an agreement.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that United are confident of having a deal for Dorgu in place inside the next 48 hours.
A third bid is now imminent with Romano describing United as being ‘optimistic’ of striking an agreement for Dorgu.
Dorgu wasn’t at his best against Inter Milan on Sunday with the Italian media criticising his mistakes in a 4-0 defeat.
United haven’t been deterred and seem to be closing in on signing the Danish talent as the deadline looms.
Manchester City plans could still impact Manchester United
Dorgu is one of the top young left wing backs in Europe and United will hope to develop him into a superstar.
Romano’s report is an encouraging one but until the deal is done, United are at risk of being hijacked.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Juventus have contacted Lecce to discuss a deal for Dorgu.
This is where Manchester City come into the picture as Pep Guardiola’s side are interested in Juventus left back Andrea Cambiaso.
Juventus don’t want to be caught short late in the window and have seemingly registered an interest in Dorgu as a potential replacement if City pay up for Cambiaso.
It’s therefore wise of United to try and really accelerate the move now, before any potential Cambiaso deal moves forward, and Dorgu will hopefully be wearing the famous red shirt very soon.
