Manchester United have strong interest in ‘fantastic’ goal machine as Rasmus Hojlund swap chance explained

Manchester United will surely move for a new striker in the summer transfer window as the pressure mounts on Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United fans are used to seeing goals, so this season has been a disappointment on that front.

30 goals in 26 Premier League games just isn’t good enough and United must solve the problems this summer.

That will require some major investment from Ineos, but we are already seeing potential attacking signings being linked with moves to Old Trafford.

United are interested in Matheus Cunha and allegedly believe that the Wolverhampton Wanderers star would be interested in a deal.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic continues to be linked with United too with United no doubt looking far and wide for attacking talent.

Manchester United swap deal for Victor Osimhen looks tricky

United may need to get creative in the market given the troublesome financial position of the club.

Wheeling and dealing may need to take place this summer but one swap deal is looking ‘complicated’.

TalkSPORT claim that Napoli are interested in signing United striker Rasmus Hojlund despite his lengthy goal drought.

Now 16 games without a goal in all competitions, Hojlund’s form is causing concern in Denmark.

Napoli are still keen on Hojlund though having seen him show huge potential in Italian football with Atalanta.

The Serie A club would want a huge discount on Hojlund though with his lack of goals ultimately hurting his market value.

One idea would be for an exchange involving Hojlund and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who is now on loan at Galatasaray.

Osimhen would certainly fit the bill as a proven goalscorer but an exchange is considered difficult despite United’s ‘strong interest’ in the Nigerian.

Swap deal are never easy at the best of times and sorting out an exchange involving two high-profile, big-money strikers will be a big ask.

United must chase Victor Osimhen

Perhaps Hojlund to Napoli and Osimhen to United can be treated as two separate deals, but United must look to land Osimhen one way or another.

The 26-year-old is one of the most lethal strikers around, smashing 76 goals in 133 games at Napoli.

A fall-out in Naples and an inability to secure a big move elsewhere ultimately resulted in a shock loan move to Galatasaray, where Osimhen has scored 20 times in 26 games.

Osimhen has proven himself in a major league, he’s of a good at 26 and he will be available to leave Napoli this summer.

Even Jose Mourinho is a fan, hailing Osimhen as a ‘fantastic’ player when speaking to ESPN back in 2023.

If ever there was a time for United to stump up the cash for a big-name striker, it’s surely for Osimhen this summer.

Tempting Osimhen to United with European football looking unlikely may be tricky but if he is keen, United must really push to snap him up.

That may lead to Hojlund leaving one way or another but United can’t wait forever with the Dane and unless his goalscoring form turns soon, he may well be replaced.
