Manchester United believe ‘phenomenal’ Premier League attacker will fancy £62m Old Trafford transfer

Manchester United need major attacking additions this summer and one Premier League forward is on the Old Trafford radar.

Ruben Amorim is still struggling for consistency at Manchester United and it’s clear that major changes are required this summer.

United’s financial situation is far from ideal though and we may see some wheeling and dealing to strengthen Amorim’s squad.

Amorim will want additions all over the pitch but may have to prioritise certain areas with United needing to spend wisely.

Attacking reinforcements are an absolute must though – and it’s not just about strikers.

Ramsus Hojlund’s form is causing concern in Denmark and United may well need another centre forward, but adding quality attackers in other roles is paramount.

Manchester United have belief Premier League star would sign

Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system places major emphasis on the two players operating behind the striker.

They need to pick up pockets of space close to goal, offer width when needed and support the striker with dynamic, attacking runs.

United don’t quite have the options in those areas just yet and significant investment there this summer must be a focus.

United were keen on Matheus Cunha heading into January but Wolverhampton Wanderers were never likely to budge.

The Brazilian has been outstanding this season and United were never likely to strike a January deal – especially with the budget restrictions.

The summer could be a different story though and Give Me Sport claim that United want Cunha at the end of the season.

Cunha is viewed as being an ideal addition to United’s attack and having proven himself in the Premier League, United are convinced.

It’s added that United are optimistic that Cunha would accept a move to Old Trafford despite United’s struggles this season.

Matheus Cunha release clause

United were keen to sign Cunha from Atletico Madrid in 2022 and that interest appears to have remained.

Now a Premier League star and hailed as ‘phenomenal’ by former Wolves defender Max Kilman in the Shropshire Star, Cunha has proven himself to United.

The hope is that United can beat other Premier League clubs to Cunha’s signature, and the cause is somewhat aided by Cunha having a release clause.

Cunha can leave Wolves for £62million this summer thanks to an exit clause in his new Wolves deal.

Other clubs can activate that clause but United at least know the fee needed and can offer him a move to Manchester.

It would then come down to the contract and the project on offer but United may well be tempted to try and keep that £62million fee to one side in order to push for Cunha’s signature.
