Manchester United eye summer move for teenage striker, believe he can be signed for ‘low fee’

Manchester United have placed a keen focus on signing top young talents under Ineos and that approach is likely to continue in 2025.

The days of spending huge fees and enormous wages on experienced players appear to be long gone at Manchester United.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe wasn’t a fan of Casemiro’s arrival, and those deals now appear to be a thing of the past.

United are instead focusing on young players in the hope of developing stars of the future at Old Trafford.

United snapped up Ayden Heaven from Arsenal in January, and we have already seen encouraging signs from the teenage defender.

Finding top young players on the cheap is not easy, but United may be ready to move for another this summer.

Manchester United want Oghenetejiri Adejenughure

The Daily Star report that United are interested in snapping up Red Bull Salzburg’s Oghenetejiri Adejenughure.

It’s stated that United believe Adejenughure can be signed for a ‘low fee’ this summer despite his huge potential.

United have been scouting Adejenughure this season, with the 18-year-old currently playing for Red Bull Salzburg’s reserve team, FC Liefering.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in Adejenughure, though, so United may face a real battle for his signature.

Reports back in October suggested that United were interested in signing Adejenughure amid backing from Ralf Rangnick.

The former United boss is thought to rate Adejenughure highly, inviting him to a youth camp for top Austrian talents in 2024.

Adejenughure caught the eye, with Rangnick now believing that the striker can go on and become a star down the line.

Oghenetejiri Adejenughure and Chido Obi could spark excitement together

Adejenughure has only scored twice in 18 league games for FC Liefering this season, but he is at a very early stage in his development.

The 18-year-old would be one for the future at United and could join forces with Chido Obi down the line.

There are parallels between the two; both are young but athletic forwards, both have scored plenty of goals for their countries at youth level, and both are even of Nigerian descent.

Obi is a year younger but has already enjoyed glimpses of first-team football at United, with more surely to come under Amorim.

United fans are already excited about Obi, but adding another top young striker in Adejenughure could spark a real buzz.

The idea of them growing together and playing together at United is an exciting one, and Ineos may well see huge potential in Austrian ace Adejenughure alongside Obi for the coming years.
