Man Utd’s position on Bryan Mbeumo’s ex-Brentford teammate who is target for Chelsea and Tottenham

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are weighing up potential moves for a former teammate of Bryan Mbeumo at Brentford, according to stunning reports.

The Red Devils failed in their bid to sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window and Manchester United are still exploring options for their 2026 targets.

Ruben Amorim has mainly relied on a midfield partnership of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro for the 2025-26 season after United did not bring in a new midfielder.

Bruno Fernandes has dropped into a deeper role in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system at United and the 31-year-old Red Devils skipper’s influence has waned as a result.

The two-man midfield of Casemiro and Fernandes has shown vulnerabilities in the campaign and United have been overwhelmed at times in the middle of the park.

Man Utd face challenge from Chelsea and Tottenham over Bryan Mbeumo’s former Brentford teammate Yehor Yarmolyuk

Yehor Yarmolyuk has appeared on Manchester United’s transfer radar and the Brentford midfielder has also attracted the interest of Chelsea and Tottenham.

TEAMtalk reports that the 21-year-old Ukrainian midfielder could be subject to intense transfer speculation in 2026 after making a name for himself at the Bees.

Bryan Mbeumo, who arrived at Old Trafford in the summer, was already at Brentford before the Bees signed Yehor Yarmolyuk from SC Dnipro-1 in 2022.

According to reports, United and Tottenham are both ‘curious’ about Mbeumo’s former Brentford teammate and Chelsea are ‘now also starting to take notice’ of him.

TEAMtalk added that United and Spurs are deciding whether or not Yarmolyuk has the right ‘quality’ for them and if he could ‘add new depth’ to their respective teams.

Brentford’s transfer stance on midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk amid the interest from Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham

United-linked Yehor Yarmolyuk is deemed too valuable for Brentford and the Bees want to keep hold of the Ukraine international at all costs amid the current season.

That is according to TEAMtalk, with the publication claiming that the Bees are ‘not encouraging interest’ and ‘do not want to sell’ the player in the January window.

It has been suggested that Brentford face a real battle to keep hold of Yarmolyuk, with club scouts expected to make ‘more regular checks’ on him this season.

Yarmolyuk is under contract with Brentford until 2031 and the Bees remain ‘firm’ on their ‘stance’ to keep hold of the Ukraine midfielder until the end of the season.
