Manchester United are looking to win back-to-back games in the Premier League against Brentford this weekend, but one transfer target will be trying to prevent that from happening.
The 2025/26 Premier League campaign is underway, and Manchester United are looking to go on a winning run for the first time this season.
United beat Chelsea 2-1 on Saturday, with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes getting on the scoresheet.
Luckily for United, Brentford have also had a poor start to the season and will host the Red Devils after picking up four points from five games.
Ruben Amorim’s side sit 11th with seven points, but they will be aiming to move up the table before they take on Liverpool in the coming weeks.

The trip to Brentford will see new signing Bryan Mbeumo return to his former club for the first time. It’s also a fixture that provides the opportunity for at least one current Brentford player to prove his worth after being linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Yehor Yarmolyuk has Man Utd audition
Reports emerged in September that United were considering a move for Yehor Yarmolyuk.
The Brentford midfielder has been playing in England since 2022 following a transfer from SC Dnipro-1. He has since made 72 appearances for Brentford, operating in the centre of the pitch.
United are likely to look at alternative options to Carlos Baleba, who was strongly linked with a move to United in the summer. The Brighton ace has struggled with form since the beginning of the season, with Fabian Hürzeler suggesting links to United have hindered his performances.
Ineos were quoted a mega-money transfer fee for Baleba in the summer, but Yarmolyuk could prove to be a cheaper alternative, especially if he performs well against Amorim’s side this summer.
Amorim needs to sign a new midfielder in 2026, with Casemiro’s contract set to expire in the summer. They will need fresher legs in the middle of the pitch, even if Casemiro signs an extension to remain at Old Trafford.
However, Yarmolyuk is under contract at Brentford until 2031, after signing a new deal in May.
It is understood that a transfer fee worth £30m would be enough to prise the Ukrainian away from the Gtech Community Stadium.
Impressive Yarmolyuk stats from last season
Before Thomas Frank left Brentford, Yarmolyuk proved to be a crucial asset in midfield.
That has continued under Keith Andrews, but Yarmolyuk likely caught United’s eye last season.
Yarmolyuk made 31 appearances, with an average pass completion rate of 88%, including 54 long balls.
Defensively, he made 31 clearances as well as 13 interceptions.
Amorim will be keen to see how Yarmolyuk performs on Saturday. He should treat it as an audition to join the biggest club in the world.
