Man Utd’s Manuel Ugarte back-up plan set to clinch surprise move to Premier League club

Manchester United are set to wrap up a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Manuel Ugarte was always Manchester United’s first choice to strengthen the midfield this summer. And Ineos have delivered.

An agreement has been reached for United to sign Ugarte for an up front fee of £42 million. He has been undergoing a medical.

Now one of the back-up plans to Ugarte is set to clinch a move to another Premier League club.

Wolves set to sign Andre

Manchester United were linked with a move for Brazil midfielder Andre, just last week, via TNT Sports Brasil.

United were alleged to have expressed interest in Andre, along with Wolves. Now he is set to join the latter.

Fabrizio Romano reports Wolves are set to close a deal with Andre for around £20 million, with the deal into it’s final stages, while Vamo Futebol report he is set to travel to undergo a medical.

The young midfielder has been called up to the Brazil squad ahead of Casemiro this past month.

He joins fellow Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes at Wolves, who was linked to United via The Mirror way back in March.

United can’t sign everyone

Ineos have done well this summer to bring in five first team players. Young prospects like Sekou Kone and Chido Obi-Martin are also strengthening the club long-term.

Andre is a talented prospect who won the Copa Libertadores with Fluminense a year ago. At just £20 million he would have been a shrewd investment.

Yet with Manuel Ugarte, a proven star, joining for just over double the price, United have paid fair value to land their top target, rather than taking more of a punt.

United have signed two centre-backs, a forward, and a right-back, and the budget is unlikely to stretch to another midfielder.

If an extra deal is done, expect something creative like a loan for Raheem Sterling, or a free agent move for Adrien Rabiot.
