Man Utd star ‘desperate for first team football’ and could leave, Ineos ‘love’ two potential replacements

Ineos have identified two transfer targets they would “love” to sign at Manchester United in 2025.

It didn’t take long at all for Ruben Amorim to demand a new left wing-back at Manchester United after he became head coach in November.

It is a glaring weakness in United’s current squad with Diogo Dalot forced to fill the void this season as Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia continue to struggle for fitness.

While Shaw could star at centre-back under Amorim, Malacia faces an uncertain future at United having failed to work his way into the starting XI. He came off the bench for the final 30 minutes against Arsenal but that was only his sixth appearance of the season.

Malacia was hooked at half-time against Bournemouth last month, and it seems Amorim would rather look elsewhere to fix his lack of options at left wing-back.

Tyrell Malacia could leave Man United in January

Ineos are ready to overhaul United’s squad in 2025 and Malacia is just one of several players who could leave this month.

Juventus have shown interest in Malacia, while Italian side Como have made Malacia a target this month after previously being linked with his close friend and teammate Marcus Rashford.

It has also been suggested that Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City could take Malacia on loan for the second half of the season.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has spoken exclusively to United in Focus and revealed that Malacia could leave this month in pursuit of regular game time.

Bailey explained that Malacia is “desperate for first-team football” so is willing to explore exit options this month.

There is interest from Germany and the Netherlands, with a loan back to his homeland becoming a real possibility.

Man United chiefs ‘love’ Patrick Dorgu and Nuno Mendes

United have made a new left wing-back a top priority and the urgency to sign one will only increase if Malacia is headed for the exit. Bailey explained that there are two transfer targets that United chiefs would “love” to sign – Nuno Mendes and Patrick Dorgu.

Nuno Mendes is a top target for United with the 22-year-old currently stalling in contract talks with PSG.

Amorim handed Mendes his debut at Sporting and Bailey has explained that the player would “love the chance to work with Amorim again” after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal.

Bailey also explained that Mendes has rejected new terms at PSG which has opened the door for him to leave despite Luis Campos wanting him to stay. However, a deal for Mendes is more likely to happen over the summer.

Club director Jason Wilcox is keen on Patrick Dorgu as a wing-back target, with the 20-year-old valued at around £35m.

Bailey has revealed that Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham are also interested in Dorgu as they view him as a top talent. That is also the case at United, who have added his name to their list of targets.
