Manchester United need some serious strengthening in 2025 and Ineos are already making moves to do so.
After losing five of the last seven games in all competitions, Ruben Amorim is firmly in the storm which he prewarned fans of when he arrived at the club.
Manchester United have been really struggling lately, something which will not be a shock to Amorim but will leave fans slightly concerned should things not turn around against Newcastle on Monday night.

On the bright side, this struggle is weeding out the players who simply aren’t good enough and showing Ineos where Amorim needs additions in January.
One position which is clearly an area of focus is left wing-back, where Diogo Dalot has been awful for weeks, with no real natural choice.
Now, United have bid for a January addition.

Nuno Mendes the subject of a bid from Manchester United
While several positions need additions, there is little debate that the left wing-back position is a priority for Amorim.
With this in mind, United have now taken initial steps to bolster the position by signing wantaway PSG star Nuno Mendes.
Reliable French journalist Fabrice Hawkins reported on Friday that United have made an offer which has turned the head of the Portuguese international.
PSG remain keen to extend Mendes’ contract however talks are still stalling which has opened the door for Amorim to be reunited with Mendes.
With Mendes open to a move, and United needing a player of his profile, the only party who will need convincing is PSG.
Ruben Amorim could get exactly what he needs in Mendes
Mendes has long been a target for United, and so it makes sense that a move could quickly be made in January. Along with the fact that it was Amorim who facilitated Mendes’ breakout at Sporting Lisbon.
When United appointed Amorim, Mendes was one of his former players to speak out, praising the 39-year-old and now he could join him in Manchester.
“I think I just have to congratulate him. think he is a coach who has done everything for football and is having great success in football. But I think he has the potential to do much more than what he has already done.”
We imagine that Amorim would speak equally as glowingly about Mendes as he did about the United coach. As far as full-backs go, United will struggle to find one better suited to Amorim’s system than Mendes is.

When compared with the offensive output especially, Mendes represents a drastic upgrade on the £20m Dalot and also with his left foot, will be a natural option to put crosses in.
This fixes one of Amorim’s major issues at United and could turn his side’s fortunes.
