Ruben Amorim might be an unexpectedly happy man when the clock strikes to signal the end of the winter transfer window.
For a month that started with low expectations and the club pleading poverty, Patrick Dorgu is set to sign and an unexpected opportunity has presented itself.
That opportunity, of course, is named Mathys Tel, who’s ready to leave Bayern Munich with immediate effect in this transfer window.
Man Utd have been linked to Tel for a while now and with the team struggling for goals, this could be the perfect opportunity. Fabrizio Romano has told them how they can make it happen.

Fabrizio Romano on Mathys Tel transfer
It wasn’t long ago that Tel had the footballing world at his feet but that’s just how it goes sometimes with a move to an elite club too soon.
Harry Kane is the undisputed first-choice for the striker position and that’s not an easy obstacle to overcome for the best players, let alone a 19-year-old.
Tel appeared to wave goodbye to Bayern fans after their recent Champions League fixture which shows that the decision to leave is already official.
Now comes the tricky part of which team to join, with multiple clubs interested in his services. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said Tel only wants one thing from the interested teams, and that puts United in a good position.
He said: “[Mathys Tel] wants guaranteed game time, he wants to be an important player, not a bench player or only for cup competitions. These are crucial factors.
It’s a work in progress. Many clubs have started calling. Man Utd are there but they’re only interested in a loan. Tottenham want to try. Chelsea are trying but let’s see if they can convince the player because they have many players in his position.”
Man Utd in prime position but there’s a catch
If game time is what Tel wants as priority, then there aren’t many clubs at the top level suited better for the Frenchman than Manchester United.
Rasmus Hojlund is struggling immensely and Joshua Zirkzee is an upgrade on him but that’s more about being less worse than Hojlund than any indication of his own form.
Tel would immediately come in as a breath of fresh air and be able to compete with the two strikers for the first-choice spot which won’t be possible at Chelsea.
The only catch in this is that United seem to be interested in only a loan move so it remains to be seen if Tel can be convinced to go back to Bayern after six months.
The solution could be United negotiating a buy clause in the loan, mandatory or optional which would be tricky deal to make with not many days left in the window.
However, if there’s intent on both sides to do it, then there’s no reason why it won’t happen.
