An Erik ten Hag signing who is still at Old Trafford under Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could reportedly become a January target for Juventus.

Ruben Amorim became the latest Manchester United manager after the club landed the 40-year-old Portuguese coach from Primeira Liga side Sporting CP in 2024.

United moved quickly to bring Amorim to Old Trafford last November during the 2024-25 campaign, following on from the sacking of Erik ten Hag as manager.

Ten Hag’s reign at United came to an end after a disastrous start to the previous Premier League campaign, with the Dutchman axed from Old Trafford last October.

The 55-year-old former United manager returned to the dugout with Bayer Leverkusen after his appointment in May, but Ten Hag suffered another setback.

Ten Hag’s tenure at Bayer Leverkusen was short-lived and the ex-Ajax head coach was sacked last week after only two Bundesliga matches in the 2025-26 season.

Juventus identify Erik ten Hag’s Man Utd signing Joshua Zirkzee as a potential 2026 January transfer target

Erik ten Hag was Manchester United manager at the time that the Red Devils brought Joshua Zirkzee to Old Trafford from Serie A outfit Bologna in 2024.

Joshua Zirkzee underwhelmed in his debut season with the Red Devils and the Ten Hag signing has fallen down the pecking order under manager Ruben Amorim.

The 24-year-old Dutch striker netted only seven times and picked up three assists in 49 matches across all competitions for the Premier League club last season.

According to Tutto Juve, Zirkzee is now ‘being monitored’ over his situation at Old Trafford and Juventus are keeping close tabs on the out-of-favour United striker.

The publication reports that the Netherlands international ‘isn’t held in high regard’ under Amorim, but former Bologna man Zirkzee does have ‘fans’ of him ‘in Turin.’

Why are Juventus interested in potentially signing Joshua Zirkzee from Man Utd?

Tutto Juve claimed that Joshua Zirkzee is only ‘another candidate’ that is on Juventus’ list for potential transfer swoops when the window opens in January 2026.

The Serie A club are looking for an alternative to Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has entered the final 12 months of his deal with the Turin-based side.

United had been linked with Dusan Vlahovic in the summer and the Italian side were keen to offload the 25-year-old Serbia international before the window closed.

However, Vlahovic remained at Juventus for the new Serie A season, despite the club wanting to recoup a transfer fee for him and to free up their wages.

It has been reported that Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman, who failed to push through a move to Inter Milan in the summer, is seen as the ‘first name’ to replace Vlahovic.
